Hi all, I have an 11 month old Berner, Boon, who is suffering from some kind of intolerance to something in his food. We first had him on Avoderm chicken and rice...he was fine for a couple of months then out of the blue he started getting diarrhea. We put him on the "bland diet" chicken and rice...stool changed to soft but not diarrhea. Next, we put him on Wellness chicken and rice large breed. He was fine for a couple of months. Once again, out of the blue...diarrhea. Back to the bland diet..diarrhea gone...soft stool returns. We look into both foods and figure since when he is on the bland diet he does not have diarrhea so he must not have an intolerance to chicken and rice. The other ingredients that the two kibble have in common are salmon meal and oatmeal. So, I research again to find a food without those ingredients. I start him on Innova chicken and rice for large breed dogs. Diarrhea again!!!! ugh!! What is going on? Any ideas? I feel so bad for the poor guy. We need to figure this out. Are there any experts in dog nutrition who we can seek help from?
Thank you! Kerry

You need to switch to a grain free, food and avoid Chicken and beef which are at the top of the allergy chain. Use a food with Venison, or Rabbit and add plain yogart to the food daily. 2 tablesthingys would be good. You should see a significant difference soon. Petco carries Natures Recipe venison and sweet potato as an example. Good luck and let us know.
