We had an amazing experience with another rescue here in Southern California. Not GGR. Let me start from the beginning. My husband and I really wanted a Great Dane about two years ago and came across Burt and Tracy's website. We were all excited because we live fairly close to Norco and liked the idea of adopting. We later decided we wanted a puppy from a breeder and found a really great one in Texas. In the meantime we discovered this website and were very thankful we didnt end up with one of GGR's dogs. As our puppy grew we decided he needed an older role model and decided to adopt an older Dane. We found this really awesome rescue in Escondido called Indian Dane Rescue (you can look them up on Petfinder). We adopted a beautiful Harl named Thunder. His adoption fee was only 425 dollars and we were given medication to treat his worm problem and it was also recommended that we have his thyroid tested because he was a little on the chunky side. None of this was any problem. That night Thunder was acting funny so I called the rescue back and discussed with them his symptoms, we concluded that he probably inhaled some of his medication. They were really helpful. Later the next day it was obvious that Thunder was bloating....exactly 24 hours later we were at the emergency vet. I called Renee from the rescue on the phone and cried with him about the decision to put Thunder down. He immediatley offered to refund our adoption fee and pay the vet bills. In talking to the vet throughout this ordeal she was relieved to learn that we didn't adopt from GGR. She said that they were less then kind to their adopters in situations like this and they were pretty much banned from this particular emergency clinic. After a couple days of healing from the Thunder tragedy we went back down to look at another dog. We picked out Tiny, a 3 year old black Dane. He had a bit of a cold and an ear infection but nothing that wasnt easily fixed with some antibiotics. We couldn't have asked for a better experience and would recommend checking Indian Dane Rescue out!
